Space-Time Covariance Models for Dynamic Processes

The objective of this
project is to develop spatio-temporal covariance models, which account
for dynamic processes such as prevailing winds or ocean currents in the
analysis of environmental, atmospheric and oceanographic data sets. In
this type of situation, physically meaningful models derive from the
general idea of a Lagrangian reference frame, which can be thought of as
attached to and moving with the center of an air or water mass. We will
study the associated space-time covariance structures, and we will
develop and implement model fitting techniques in the context of
environmental prediction problems. |
